Tyre pressure warning light / buzzer
« on: June 03, 2021, 05:19:05 PM »
2015 Mazda 3, recent experience. New tyres all round June 2020.
Tyre pressure waring light / buzzer sounded. Not for the first time since I have owned the car. Checked all tyre pressures, R/O/S very slightly down. Inflated and reset warning light.
Light / buzzer set off again. Took to local independent garage who do all my maintenance. No fault found and reset switch.
Short drive later, light / buzzer sounded again.
Taken to main Mazda dealer some distance away. When they checked, found air escaping from inner rim, between tyre and rim, close to a wheel balance weight. Sent me a very clear video clip.
Went to local tyre fitters who suggested the inner rims required to be refurbished to ensure a good seal with the tyre.
It appears the tyre pressure light / buzzer had been working correctly all along.......

Not sure if other owners have had this situation.

Also sounds like you need to find better tyre fitters.
Look at life through the windscreen, not the rearview mirror.

Update to the above.......

Had the rear offside wheel refurbished as air leaking from inner edge contact with the tyre.
That lasted 24 hours, before the warning light was back.

Replaced the tyre, well both rear tyres. No problems since. Fingers crossed.
