18000 service costs
« on: July 23, 2008, 01:01:17 PM »
Just booked my MPS in for its 18000 service.

Checked the cost and its £276?

So my question is to the MPS chaps, is this about right. I have great confidence in the dealer for quality work but money is money at the end of the day.

Rang a second dealer and their price was £161.

It turns out its the difference in oil price which was double the cost and higher labour charge.

They agreed to price match so happy days.

Always new they were a good company to deal with! Happy Days   ;D

160 odd for a 18k service is good if you ask me. I found their quotes vary quite wildly as well to be honest. Not what i expected at all.

I just got my MPS serviced and it cost £99, not bad hey :)
3500miles service, so it's just a oil change and checking really nothing major, but price is still cheap compared to what other manufactures charge.

I must add, the MPS uses alot of engine oil. I don't really go under the hood but, I would have thought the car would warn me that my oil level very near empty ???

Beware how you check it; I checked mine when first got it and it showed nearly on low. Seems if you draw stick, wipe it then gently re-insert it you get a truer reading. Don't overfill or you are likely to blow a seal.

12000 miles and never used a drop of oil.  I think you may have a problem somewhere ??

Service all done now, and been working away all week in the RX8 and must say I am looking forward to getting back in the MPS.

Only thing now is that there is between 2 - 3 mm left on the rear tyres and will be needing some new ones soon. Thats gonna hurt my pocket!

on the subject of servicing here's one for you all-i bought my mps at the wekend and it has 6k on the clock the guy said it'd been serviced but when i got home and looked in the book there was no digital print out in the back of the service book(im assuming thats what the mps has instead of stamps?)whan are the service intervals on the mps?and how the hell do you get in to change the front indicator bulbs?i cant get my hand in anywhere and it looks like either the light unit or the grille and all of the front plastic cover that goes across the front of the car will need to be removed!!!talk about a pain in the ass!here was me thinking bulbs are the easiest thingto do to a car ???

Mine had 6k on when I bought it and the garage gave it its 9k service. Your right its not a conventional service book it is recorded digitally and I did not get a print out of mine; however after my 18k service the garage informed me that the info had not been registered so she sent all the details off to Mazda and I now have a digital service record - customer copy nwhich can be printed by the dealer. It shows preevious visits and the latest visit. The only visit that is not recorded it is the first oil change @ 3k.

The intervals for servicing are 9k or 12  months whichever comes first.

Not changed any bulbs so cant help on that one.
