Driveshaft vibration dampers
« on: November 04, 2011, 09:23:36 AM »
Hi all, just been clearing stones jammed between disc and splash plate when I noticed the rubber dampers on the o/s shaft. On Primeras the drive shafts would shear due to corrosion caused by ingress of water under the rubber dampers, it was a common fault & a lot of us removed the dampers before the corrosion caused serious weaknesses in the shaft.
No vibration was noticed on removal or even at high speeds.
Have any members seen this problem on their cars or have had experience of failure?
Removal is easy with careful use of an angle grinder 15 mins per side, cheers Keith h
