I will have a close look at the CX5 but I would want 4 wheel drive, so I hope there is that option.

Quite a lot of information today at:
http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/FirstDrives/Mazda-CX-5-2.0-FWD-Skyactiv-MT/258878/

and
http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/mazda-cx-5-review/258884

Looks very good.
What I am disappointed at is that a few weeks ago it was said there would be a high powered 2.2  diesel. I thought that would mean something higher than the normal 173 hp type and was hoping for about 190 hp. Unfortunately, it means a 148 hp and a 173 hp

Another site gives some measurements...

"It lives at the large end of its sprawling class and casts a shadow only slightly smaller than Mazda’s middle-child CX-7. So the CX-5, a close size match to the Kia Sportage, rides on a 106.3-inch wheelbase (exactly two inches shorter than the CX-7’s), and it has length and width dimensions of 178.7 and 72.4 inches versus the CX-7’s 184.3 and 73.7"

-------------------

Samp, what figure is Mazda using for the 0 - 60 for the 3, 2.2 185d?  i.e. what time are they saying it is better than?

"at launch"

Give them a chance!

What does that mean?

It says that those will be the launch engines, not the total extent of skyactiv diesel potential. maybe higher outputs will come in good time.

The petrol with 139g co2 sounds good to me.

Quite possibly, perhaps after a year or so.  The CO2 values are excellent. The price of the cars will be important when comparing with rivals like the Tiguan. It's difficult for Japanese manufacturers due to exchange rates.

i believe they claim 8.2 seconds for the 2.2 185PS Mazda 3 sport, ill double check tomorrow though, from what Ive been told its going to be very impressive, the new chassis the car sits on is meant to be one of the best..

This threads getting like a cryptic crossword.

Groan?
Willpower, does that mean you don't like or think 0-60 figures are meaningful? Or what?

Samp, thanks for the performance info. I don't suppose you've seen a test where they have recorded a 50- 70 mph time, have you?
Thanks

not as of yet, I'm only going on what Ive been told by Mazda, they also recon the low power diesel will do 50+mpg, and it will be far lighter than all its rivals thanks to its new chassis, all the cars with the sky motors are also meant to have a 4 into 1 sports manifold on them too, if I'm honest i cannot wait for the car to come along, it sounds very very good from what Ive been told...  ill let you all have more info when i do.
