Hodgson Mazda Silverlink
« on: July 15, 2011, 06:56:46 PM »
This dealership is near me & reading the posts does not surprise me. I was down there 3 months ago looking for a car for my daughter, salesman showed up eventually, nice enough bloke but preoccupied with knocking off. I asked about some Mazda 2 models they had, away he went to get the brochures & never returned.
2 days later my wife & I were shopping in the link so I went across again, this time an attractive young woman sales girl in her 20,s appeared & was really pleasant. She was really switched on, a car fanatic & rattled off pat all the specs of various cars even down to who had owned them, a credit to Hogsons.
Shame on her disinterested colleagues.
If i were to get a vehicle there she would be the one to get the sale. keith h

good for her, i hope that her enthusiasm doesn't wear off and then later become disenchanted with the car sales trade as i imagine many people do, like the guy that failed to get you brochures.

when i went there a few years back, it was late in the day, and they were all preoccupied with whatever they had to do sat at their desks, and i don't think anyone even noticed me, certainly no-one asked me if there was anything they could help me with, missed opportunity

Go to Hogsons in Gateshead - it's classed as 'metrocentre' on their site.  Been there a few times and cannot fault them

They are much newer than the silverlink branch so will have less custom.  Maybe this is why they are more willing to 'do a deal' - to secure future custom?

Not impressed so far with Hodgson silver link. Wanted to test drive a 3 today to see if it was the car for me and the salesman wasn't interested.  Figured he wasn't going to make a sale so basically told me to come back when I was wanting to buy. I just walked out. Bloody salesmen. The other guy was a bit more helpful so I'll try his card next week.

I drove thirty five miles, passing 2 other Mazda dealerships on the way to go to the Gateshead dealership as at the time I was looking they were the only ones stocking the model & engine size I wanted second-hand. I actually bought an ex-demo example & the lady who first approached me, and the salesman I was handed on to, could not have been more helpful. I also felt that I got a good deal & had the impression that they might have done even more if I'd pushed  (although I couldn't think of anything else I thought was a realistic "ask")!

Yeah  I went there afterwards and the younger lad (probably my age) was more helpful, but they didn't have any 2L sports in.  To be fair it's a bit harsh of me to write off a dealership based on my assessment of one member of staff there.  I've just dealt with so many of their type in the past.  I'll give the dealership one more chance by calling the first guy directly (who was great when my dad went along for a look).  Let's see if he reacts the same with me.
