Spanner It Darlington
« on: April 25, 2011, 11:20:37 AM »
Well yesterday a few of us from the Club323f ended up going to "Spanner It" in Darlington. For those of you who dont know who they are. Its basically a big workshop fully equipped with lifts, tools and anything you may need and you rent out a space and work on your vehicle yourself. The lady that runs it is really into her cars and does group deals as well. She is also more than happy just to have groups meet up outside and have a barbeque. All in all a really nice place and here are my photos

Well first i had a great day with all the usual suspects and i got to say there should be one of these spanner it's in every city and town.

Thats a really good idea. I wonder how they cover the insurance aspect of it ?
Look at life through the windscreen, not the rearview mirror.

I spoke to them about this and aparently it took them ages to find an insurer that would cover them and basically everyone has a run through of how the lift works and all that stuff and then you have to sign an indemnity form so if you damage your own vehicle die to no other reason than your own they cant be held responsible which i think is completely fair

I live in darlington myself and seen this place quite a few times, looks like a brilliant idea, fortunately for my I work in a garage so I don't have to hire one, but they seem to have the tool for any job needed doing, great concept and seems to be working very well.
