Climate control noisee, possibly fan.
« on: October 14, 2010, 06:03:29 PM »
My car has developed a noise, from the climate control. It sound like the sprocket on a push bike when its free wheeling, the ticking sound!.

It goes up and down with the speed of the blower fan.

If im lucky it could be some dirt trapped in the system rattleing about, or the fan.

Could any one tell me where the fan blower for the climate control is located.

Or has anyone else experieced the problem, and have any other ideas.

Thanks

When my interior blower fan was starting to not work, you could hear a noise that would go faster and slower depending on the speed of the fan you turned it to. I had mine replaced under warranty thankfully.

I've had my car into the garage a couple of times for this over the past three years.

1st time they said it was leaves that had got into the fan area.

2nd time it was also whistling, and they changed the whole fan unit saying the motor was burnt out.

Now going in for another problem, and I've asked them to look at it again as the noise is back intermittantly.

Surely there are filters to stop leaves and twigs going in?

Mine has just started doing this after my battery ran flat and the AA jumped me.
Luckily i still have a couple of months warranty left on my car so i think i shall be taking it in to them,as the clicking/ticking sound that sounds like its coming from just under the windscreen on the passenger side,is highly annoying.

This might, ( and I used that guardedly) be caused by a leaf stuck in the ventilation duct.

Hi,

May not be related at all but I had a ‘creaking’ noise coming predominantly from the dash/windscreen at the passenger side (occasionally from the driver’s side too).  Talked to my dealer today and it is a known issue with the new Mazda 3’s… it was the Scuttle Panels… they adjusted and it is now fixed.  Don’t know much about it but they did and glad it is sorted; was so irritating.

This was a problem suffered by Gen 1 MPS models. Same symptoms. Same solution.

Hello everybody I have the kinda different noise . Buzzing noise apparently coming from blower fan , it started doing this last week and didn't go away or gotten worse in past few days . Also my screen fogs up much quicker , but the fan is blowing normally it just that noise  :o

I know that it is a pig of a job to get to it . Is there any way besides taking whole dashboard apart  :( , also are mazda 323, 626, 2, 5, 6 , 3BK parts interchangable , by that I mean blower fans. Everyone starts with HB 111 label like this??  :)

This one is from 323

Thanks in advance .

To answer your 2nd question first, I think it would be highly unlikely that the same blower fan was used across all Mazda models as you are suggesting.

Re your noise. The only suggestion that I can offer is as has been stated before, i.e does the audible frequency of the noise change with associated fan speed?   Also, there still remains the possibility of ingress by a foreign object, leaf/twig/paper.   First thing I would do would be to eliminate that by dismantling the ducts to see if anything is in there.    If not then go from there.  Cheapest/simplest option first.

Thanks Will for quick response , can I record it and post  :) , it really isn't noticable on full speed , more on first and second . This happened when i was trying to dry out condesation from windcreen at full speed , so asume that something ,which made my screen fogging up quicker got sucked in .

Question : does the air come through filter first , or through blower motor/fan ?

Nope. 'fraid that's not a leaf stuck. That sounds to me like a motor on it's way out. :(    As it's a 2nd gen, I don't have any access to any manuals or diagrams. So this is as far as I can help.

Sorry. I hope you find a solution.
