Mk1 MPS on Fifth Gear
« on: August 07, 2010, 01:37:38 PM »
Just been watching an old Fifth Gear on Dave (new Civic Type R had just come out)  they wanted to find the best hot hatch!!

MPS, Focus ST, Golf, Megane plastic thing, Seat Cupra etc....

They took one look at the MPS and said it was boring and didnt even take it for a drive.   But you all know which car they picked as the best hot hatch......THE GOLF!!!  :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

There was a test on 5th gear between the Golf r and the Cupra r this week. Subjectively, the Cupra won on the track, less understeer and more adjustability despite it being 2 wheel drive. Yet the Golf r won on the best lap time. Couldn't undestand that at all with the same 256 bhp engine. Something funny is going on.

Theres ALOT more to going around a track than the engine.

I do not believe these results. Why "Golf" always wins ? At "Autocar", "AutoBild" ... It never loses. I can not get it.

I believe mazda handles better brakes better maybe not plastic quality but why is my car always places the last positions ?

Because they get paid more for saying the VW is better.
