Clean them up with wire wool. They will soon corrode again but you could paint some laquer on with a brush once on to stop them going again, at least until you next take them off!!!

I think I will try your method, but I have to take them one by one as I don't have original ones  :-X  >:(

USED TO HAVE: MAZDA 3 1.6 SPORT NAV IN ALUMINUM WITH EIBACH SPRINGS AND CUSTOM CORKSPORT SRI INTAKE

NOW HAVE: 1. MX5 MK1 1.8 IN BRITISH RACING GREEN LOTS OF MODS
                 2. MAZDA MX5 SPORT BLACK IN WHITE NO 384 OF 500 EIBACH SPRINGS, K&N PANEL FILTER & LOTS OF LITTLE BITS

Looks awesome matey far better than they did befor! I know if I were to do something like that I would cock it right up haha!
