Thunking sounds have appeared and are getting louder daily from the rear suspension on slight sharp bumps.  If it turns out its my shocks again that will be my 4th set Sad

Guys, truly, I travel a very normal A road, a decentish B-road, and through a small town and thats it, no crazy back roads with mad potholes.  Something is definitely happening with the MPS shocks.  I wonder if the aero's eibachs  springs are putting to much stress on the rear struts.  Going to mazda tomorrow after work (again)

Hi Guys,

I had this with my old and new MPS. The first was shoker tops that they replaced, although they said there was not a lot wrong with them, they did it as a precaution.

The second time my MPS was only 2 months old and the banging was from the rear. I took it to a Mazda dealer local to where I was at the time and it was a loose bolt.

It was (I think, long time ago) the anti-roll bar drop link lower bolt that had worked loose. The dealer said it was the 3rd he had done in as many weeks. Could be worth a look into.

Cheers,

Just about to head out for dinner, but went in to the dealer earlier and said they couldn't see anything on a quick inspection, but would would need to take it in for a proper look, which they'd have to charge me for since my warranty had run out...... I will tell the rest of the story when I get back in, since it went a bit bizarre from there! Smiley

ps dont get too excited, its not that interesting! Cheesy

Grin  back home now! Well, following on from earlier, I found out that my warranty had expired after taking the car in to the dealers for rear suspension clunking. It'd been my intention to get mazdas extended warranty before mine ran out, but here I was needing work done without a warranty. Cursed myself for not properly checking my v5 to see when my warranty died.

Decided to phone customer services as my dealer told me that usually Mazda contact you before your warranty runs out, in the hope they'd sell me another year. It turns out Mazda uk have no record of my car apart from it exists as a vin number- no model, reg number, owner, nothing. Only thing was that warranty was up on 01/01/2010. Meaning that it mustve been registered on new years day (this is when I first suspected something was up)

they passed me on to mazdas warranty company who quoted that warranty date saying I'd need a full check done before they'd sell me a warranty (so my suspension would need fixed before they'd sell me a years warranty)

pissed off, I got my v5 out and checked the 1st reg date .... Huh, registered new in the uk on 25/6/07!! On the phone to the original dealers, according to their records my car still is under warranty. . .. What on earth is going on!!???

I have annoying clunking and rattling from the rear of my car too. I can't seem to find out if it's the shocks or something silly like the spare tyre rattling (probably not that I know).  Would like to hear how it all gets resolved.

Hmm, I had that for a while.
Turned out to be the rose bush on the suspension that had worked loose.
A quick tightening up by the dealer and normal suspension was restored.

Not had any problems since then.

Back from dealer today with new bumper stops fitted. Car still sounds the same although they said they lubricated the anti-roll bar bushes. Can't really see what good that would do but hey what do I know?

They said they compared it to an MPS in the showroom and it's the same however I Know for a fact this has steadily been getting worse over the last couple of years since I have had the car.

So next port of call will be all the anti-roll bar mounts and bushes to be replaced to see if that helps. So glad I took a warranty extension out.

This is becoming a pain in the ass!  Sad

Back from dealer again today. All engine and gearbox mounts re-torqued. Front anti-roll bar bushes replaced.
On visually inspecting these they don't look all that bad. However the car feels much better.

And I think it is fixed  Smiley
We shall see tomorrow when it's fully cold as that was when it was worst.
