How To - Remove the radio
« on: February 27, 2009, 03:12:19 PM »
A quick guide on how to remove the standard head unit. Taken from the US 3 Forum.

When I get time I will take fresh pics update to RHD

1.   Remove the decoration panel. I usually do this by opening the glove box, and sticking something flat where the white arrow is pointing. Then just pull away from the car and the tabs should release.

2.   Remove the 2 screws holding the head unit.

3.   Pull on top of the head unit until the whole thing pops out.

I do like the search button, this is exactly what I was after as when I purchased the car it had one of the silly mounting brackets (as shown in below link) installed.
I was a little nervous about playing around with the trim to remove it as I am not the most patient man in the world but it seems simple enough.

THANKS!!!!

I am finally getting round to taking the bracket described in the earlier post out this weekend. I have looked at the trim and attempted to remove it but it is clinging on fairly tight. I am heavy handed and don't want to break it, does it need a fair bit of persuasion to come off?
Thanks and apologies for the daft question
