How to fit Forum Decals
« on: October 13, 2008, 10:22:40 PM »
This is a short guide on how to fit the Mazda3forums.co.uk decals.

Clean glass where the decal is to be fitted. Using tape mark the centre of the screen.

Peel half of the backing away from the decal (pre-mask)

Place the top edge of the decal on to the glass ensuring its straight

Using a soft cloth, smoth the decal down on the glass, work it down and pull the rest of the backing away.

Once the decal is completely fitted and smothed on to the screen, gentley remove the pre-mask tape rom the top of the decal.

Give the decal one last wipe over making sure that all the edges are flat.

This works for both normal and reversed decals

When I peel away the backing some of the lettering sticks to it.  Rather than make a mess of it I have stuck the backing down again and come here for advice.  Any suggestions please?

You can probably see the lettering through the protective paper, so I would suggest some applied pressure (  I suggest the back of a teaspoon) to all of the lettering through the backing paper. Then gently peel it away and continue to apply some pressure to each letter as it is revealed.
Look at life through the windscreen, not the rearview mirror.

Willpower you are correct, you need to apply some pressure prior to pulling the pre-mask backing off.

As you can see in the picture, I have used a fely pad, however you can just use your fingers.

When pulling the mask off, try to keep the end as low as possible sliding in a slow motion so you can keep an eye on the decal and make sure its 100% stuck.

Sorted.  ;)

Just wanted to make sure before I made a mess of things, but turned out to be really easy.

Will post photo in other thread.
