Nice one mate, next time one is up let me know and id love to come along.

231 rx8 puts out 225 BHP ish and the only way to achieve more BHP with a rx8 is via a supercharger.
Who needs 4 wheels when you have 2??? Bike it baby!!!!

the stock RX8 was lucky to get 6.0 with a professional driver... i would say a 230 wheel hp rx8 would be lucky to get 5.5

The 231ps rx8 will do 0-60 in 6 seconds. It is not a 0-60 car like a hot hatch, it is a handling car, track car, the weight distribution is 50-50 and spot on, almost no body roll. It is a handling car really mate.

Hot hatches arent designed for 0-60 either...thier designed to get your groceries home before the ice cream melts...infact the RX8 is a better design for 0-60 since its RWD, weight distribution and your launch help you get traction instead of the FWD of a hot hatch that takes weight off your drive tires. Probably the best platform for 0-60 is AWD...loads of traction everywhere. Your right the RX8 was designed for the circuit course...but that Mazda's cheap excuse for the poor performance everywhere else...infact our 2.3 turbo's were designed for the circuit course too...thats why we have to shift twice to 60 instead of the normal once.

Thanks for all the info on the RX8 but my original post was regarding the power output of this specific RX8 with the turbo and all the other mods.

probably 231... stock RX8's struggle to dyno at 200 to the rear wheels...most seem to be around 190 or so... Mazda is famous for over rating cars. RX8's dont respond well to mods at all...takes alot of money to get power out of thier already high strung and well tuned engine.

So the quoted 230bhp in stock rx8 is a load of tosh?! or do they not quote at the wheels?
In that case is the MPS over stated too in that case?!?   ???   :-\
I heard that mazda may have even been conservative with the MPS engines figures, and saw a vid on you tube, dyno-ing an MPS at 258bhp...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yy9RSxFRFv4&feature=related

I watched a re-run of 5th gear today. They were seeing if cars lived up to their quoted 0-60's.
They did a 2003 mx5, quoted at 7.9sec, couldn't get it under 9sec and one run was 11sec!!!

I dyno'ed at 242 stock...and I have a much less restrictive emissions regulation than the UK. If Mazda's 230 bhp claim on the rx8 is true that means it loses 30-35 hp just in the drivetrain, which isnt far fetched...i guess it could but that means it is worse than an EVO8 (AWD loses more due to all the diffs and such). That video of 258 is with the dyno estimateing what the BHP is...the dyno never really knows..could be less could be more. Unfortunately dyno's have way too many variables to put out numbers...if I wanted to I could get a dyno tech to make my car read 1000 whp... alot comes into play, temperatures, altitude, humidity, dyno type (some read higher than others), and the calibration of the dyno... Dyno's are a poor way to compare 2 vehicles. Only good at giving a decent guess on how 1 car reacts to a mod...even then its still blurry... I dynoed at 274 hp a few months ago...but I can walk a 350 BHP Caymen S from 30-130... (no were getting into power to weight ratio and gearing too)... all in all there are too many factors! Some manufacturers exagerate thier hp numbers  (most do now a days) but some under rate like hell...put a 6 speed twin turbo Supra on any dyno and you will put down over 300 whp...I am certain of it...but Toyota claims that they are 276 (Japan had a law that says no production car will have over 276 BHP). You dyno a Z06 Corvette you will will probably see 505 WHP even though chevy claims its 505 at the crank. Basically you cant go by what the factories say anymore...just take what the majority see and average them all is what I have learned.

bit of a thread reserect but this looks like the Car owned by Tekken over on the RX8OC
he reports that its running about 297bhp (cant remember if that what wheels or fly) but its on a Greddy Kit and was running at .3bar boost.

Got a ride in it a Brands Hatch Monday and its rapid with no Turbo lag and a very smooth power delivery.
