Anyone had any dealings with the fitters at dealerships; if so how impressed ?

Just booked MPS in for 3000 mile service, girl asked me where I bought it ( your place !! ) asked me the chassis number twice and insisted that it was the first year service ( after 65 days ! ). Just hoping the fitters are a little more with it !!

Well, funny you should say that. I called my dealer to see when my next service is due.
The Service girl said first of all the intervals were 12k miles, I said 9k which was right.
Now I know it was serviced before I picked it up (with 7k on the clock) now I have 15 1/2k and been told my next service is 18k!

Now I am not the best at maths but that is not quite right?

Well I keep my levels topped up so it will stand till 18k.

What I am concerned about is tis digital service record. I will be requesting a printout on my next visit.

I always talk to a lad who is very knowledgable, Neel uses the same lad so am sure can vouch for him.

Bare in mind dealers hire anyone to look after the desks so you are very dependent on them getting the right training which lets face it, practically never happens!

She may be correct; 1st @ 3000 then 9000 after that  =  12000 as far as I can make out.

I asked what lea-way there might be " none, 3000 or warranty out"" all others I have dealt with usually give a couple hundred miles or so ?

I think I might be being a little unfair. After all, I really ;like this dealer thats why I bought two cars off them and had a third serviced.

Just thought it was funny that they did not seem to  know the last time it was serviced.

Do you not get it after every service?? My dealer prints of a copy for me to keep which lists all the previous visits as well. And even if i forget to pick it up, they stick it in the post to me so i have got the copy.

Err no - it doesn't work like that. The 3000 mile service is not the "1st" service - that comes at 9000 miles, then every 9000 miles after that. So essentially 9k, 18k, 27k etc....

Your dealer is a being a tad pedantic regarding the leeway issue - mine was closer to 4k when I had it done - dealer said it was fine. Having said that - when I bought the car the sales droid informed me that the first service was due at 12500 miles - just like any other Mazda, and there was absolutely no mention of the 3k service. Luckily I managed to find things out for myself  Cheesy

all depends who the dealers hire, and how much of a damn they give.  The techs should be good, as the go through alot of training, and have to attend alot of courses, but yes, quite often the desk staff either don't know or jus dont care, tends to be luck of the draw, depending what dealer you get and what member of staff you speak to
