Missing ambiental temperature sensor
« on: June 25, 2020, 09:39:00 PM »
Hi everyone!

Are you all and the cars doing ok?  ;D

A few weeks ago I bought my first Japanese car, it's a 2006 Mazda 3 Saloon 1.6 petrol.
So far so good, the car is a really smooth drive, can't complain.

Being the first time buying a Mazda, I didn't pay 100% attention especially to the "AMB" button. Short story, I pressed the AMB button during the test drive, nothing happened and quite ignored it cause I thought it just needs some time to load and it's nothing serious..

I got home and a few days later and a bit of investigation, I pop the hood, look down at the bumper where the outside temperature sensor should be located but to my surprise all I can see is a wire covered in some tape. So..almost everything is missing, even if I buy a sensor there's nothing to plug it into  :o

Is anyone able to give me some codes for the sensor and the wiring harness?

Thanks a lot!

TBH I didn't even know where that sensor was, though I do use it occasionally to check what the temperature (roughly) is outside when driving. Unfortunetaly it's not something I know much about.  You may want to check the technical section of the forum (this thread may get moved there BTW), as that has the tech manuals for servicing and maintenance that may show you the part needed.

Can't fault your taste in specific cars though, but then I'm biased (mine's the same in TS2 form)!  ;D

I wonder if it feeds info to the EMU and lack of it might cause cold weather start problems.

Thanks @Andy, I'll have a look at the tech manuals and do a little bit more digging into it.

@hanix, hopefully it won't affect the start in cold weather.

Soon I'll connect it to another OBD2 scanner, maybe it will show anything related to it that might be helpful.
