Looking at a 2016 Mazda3 tomorrow.
« on: May 12, 2020, 07:24:10 PM »
Good evening all! Going with my son to look at a SportNav Saloon tomorrow - its for him. The specs are very good (it's the 2.2l 148bhp), it has a full service history too. Just wondered what - if anything - should we look out for.
Of course I will be looking around here for useful info, but incase I don't find anything by tonight!
Thanks.

If it's been serviced at the correct intervals it should be mechanically A1, my partner has the 2.2d and it's not missed a beat in the 3 years she's had it. She did have a fault on the clutch after 17k but this was a very unusual problem (the DMF had a defect and Mazda replaced it under warranty) Check the electric door mirrors unfold correctly as both motors have already been replaced on ours when they began to stick. Might be worth asking if they know whether these have been changed under the Mazda warranty. Other than the above, we've had 3 years out of ours so far with no other issues (19k done from new so far....)

I have a 2016 2.0L Sport Saloon but not the 148. It's a peach. Been faultless all the time I've had it. Had it dealer serviced apart from the last one which was independent. A dream to drive and a joy to look at.
Only complaints:
The 18" wheels can be noisy on some stretches of roads. It's fitted with the OEM Sport Maxx's which are one of the quietest tyres around and they still have 5 mm tread on the fronts after nearly 30k miles.

The alloys are badly pitted, the front more so than the rear but this seems to be par for the course with Mazda Alloys.

Haven't seen a car I would swap it for yet.

I have Dunlop sport maxx and have done 45500 miles and still have about 3mm left on the fronts and about 4.5mm on the rears will be changing the fronts sometime around October
Made it to retirement  :) now can’t go anywhere 😡

Thank you for the replies. We went for a look this morning, took it for a pre-arranged test drive and we couldn't fault it! Deal was done and he's picking it up tomorrow. It's Crystal Blue Mica colour I think - looks black until you get close then wow! I'm a little jealous!
