New mazda 3 on order
« on: August 26, 2019, 02:34:04 PM »
Hi ordered a new mazda 3 sel lux petrol manual in deep crystal blue for delivery in sept for 69 plate traded in wifes 5yr old fiesta(needed £1300 of work)got £4k from mazda but ford only offered £3k.The main deciding factor was that i already had a mazda cx5 68 plate and loved it,so soon we will have 2 mazdas on driveway. We like the new shape and lux interior of the new mazda 3 also the large nav screen thats now angled towards driver plus the on sreen projection, safety kit and full length armrest :)

I'd like one with the Skyactiv X engine but finances will mean it's a few years away yet. Test driven the Gen 4 in GT Sport trim and it was lovely. Hope you enjoy the new car.

Sat in a top spec gen 4 at a dealer when my was in for service, absolutely gorgeous inside for the class and a lovely looking car. Not driven one lest I man maths my way into a purchase..

Think I'd need a to have a bigger car as the other car as you have though as while good looking the idea of putting a child in and out of a rear facing car seat the back with that roofline/door shape makes me sweat just thinking about it!

The forthcoming CX-30 might be worth a look - identical to the gen-4 Mazda3 inside, likely to have the same engines, hatchback boot but nearly the same size (430-450L I think) as the 3 fastback and much bigger than the 360L boot in the 3 hatchback.  Not sure about rear legroom/headroom, but essentially a jacked-up Mazda3 that still handles almost as good.  I suspect it'll sit in between the 3 and CX-5 price-wise.

You'd only have to wait until October for the CX-30, I think.

I would be interested to know what thought if any you gave to the forthcoming X engine in the 3.

It seemed to me that a 50% power increase on the current 2.0L is a very large move up. Also the first ever mainstream supercharged, compression ignition petrol engine is a step into the unknown for buyers even if professional reviewers rave over it.

Have you any info on the UK release date Andy?  I've signed up to the official Mazda 'we'll keep you informed' emails but heard nothing as yet.  I really don't see it being available in 5 weeks.

I did originally read on Honest John's website that it was due to go on sale just after the 3 Fastback, i.e. some time in October or November, but reading the later road test there, it now seems to be going on sale (available to put in orders) from December.  That probably means deliveries (including breaks over Christmas and the New Year) from February 2020 at the earliest.  If they have them in the showrooms by Christmas, I'll have a spy when I get my 3 serviced.

The thing that anoys me is that if you want the top of range GT tech is that you have to have a black interior lining which makes it feel gloomy and smaller inside plus you have the bigger wheel (16 v 18)rims which makes it poorer on economy and a harder ride for the same engine power as the cheaper trims ....makes no sense.

because i would like the bose system, heated steering wheel and extra safety kit :'(

You may well be able to get the 16in rims and tyres on the top spec models as an option (unless the brake diameters are uprated and thus are too big for the 16in rims - no idea why, its not as though any REALLY sporty versions are on offer, even the SA-X isn't) - but then you have to either order the car new (which means you'll get a smaller discount if you have to go through a dealer, if that option isn't available via a broker) or buy a completely new set of Mazda 16in alloys, new tyres and get them all changed out at the dealership and then sell the originals on Ebay for a loss (plus the hassle of doing so).

I downsized mine on my gen-1 car (admitedly only from 16in to 15in) but did so when the alloys were corroding and causing leaks in the tyres, and the tyres were close to needing replacement (age) anyway, and I just told my local dealer to just dispose (FOC) of the old alloys and tyres - they weren't worth selling.

I have had a Mazda 3 GT Sport Tech from August and if I were you I would get the
dealer to do the recalls while you are waiting to pick it up as I have just had mine
done after notification by Mazda.
There are 3 notification - Inlet Valve Rocker Arm / Loose Wheel Nuts / Airbag Indicator Unit.

I hope this helps.
