Brakes grinding and clicking
« on: May 12, 2019, 09:53:19 PM »
Hi all.. I'm a first time mazda owner. I have a 08 mazda 3 ts 1.6 ltr. Just had new pads and discs done at the front. And were great for 2 days then started getting a grinding sound from the front (breaks still work great BTW). My mechanic put it down to a sticky caliper so managed to lossen it off. But am know getting a clicking sound from the front and thinking cv joint and the grinding sound is louder than ever once the car has been run about for 10 minutes .. But can feel it through the steering wheel if u know what I mean.. Am thinking my drive shaft /cv joint is on the way  out......n maybe new calipers . Really need advice on this. Thank you

Best to take it back to the mechanic that did the job as  if there was a calliper sticking its usually best to replace them.CAn you see lots of copper grease on the calliper slides?perhaps the disc is getting hot if the calliper is sticking still. We have had problems before with brakes but it’s usually when they have not been cleaned down properly checked and all greased up properly before they are reassembled.

Clicking and grinding sounds like a driveshaft, can you reach under and give it a twist to feel any play.
