Yes but it will not download to my SD card as it states there is insufficient free space on the SD card, here we go email to support yet again,

Mazda = never again.

It told me that there was insufficient space too. It then gave me the option to choose which part of Europe I wanted to download. Western Europe or Russia

You'd think they'd have an option, as my 'old' (still receives map updates) Nokia Windows Phone app HereMaps does, for just updating the UK/RoI maps only.  I really hope the new car gets a better ICE/SatNav system than the gen-3 car.  Is it possible to upgrade the car's Sim card holding the data to a unit with more storage space?  My phone only has 8GB storage total and seems to manage fine with its satnav app and many others.

It's worse than that..I'm on the U.S. UK Facebook group and people are not happy with the paid for installation of car play on the gen 3...also Mazda locks off the touch screen while moving, which the Mazda Android Auto client hasn't been programmed to override..limiting functionality.

It's not a huge thing in many ways..it's a stereo but compared to what's available with other manufacturers it's rather poor..especially for a near 300 quid option.

I had that too, I did not pay for for the Russia option, no idea why it is offered, did not want to risk installing it in case it screwed my SD card, and gave Mazda the excuse to charge screw me £600+ or what ever the cost is now for a replacement SD card. I used the 'Contact us" option for support and despite the "A customer service representative will respond to your message within 24 hours." message I have had zero response (I'm not surprised). Mazda Customer Support and Service sucks. £248 for an update service that fails to deliver  :-[

Is this on an older '3' Willpower and not the newer 2014+ '3'? - still nothing heard back from Mazda.

Plugged card in, before update Used was 7024Mb out of 15185Mb.
After update, 7123Mb used.
So perhaps they have upgraded the card sizes on the '17 refresh.
Should not be penalized if the cards they provided in the past are not big enough for map data now.  Think they'd provide larger cards if buying maps or during a service. These things must cost pennies to make, you can buy 16Gb cards for £6...
The Toolbox has an option of MOVE TO EMPTY SD CARD under settings, maybe this will allow for a transfer to a new SD and for updates to fit? Its says provided by mazda...
Also might be able to get cloning tools to do it for you.

These maps are also not comprehensive updates as there were roads missing on the last update that had clearly been there for a year or so.

Which is saying something, as many other car manufacturers' ICE/Sat Nave systems ain't that good either.  No wonder so many people just use their phone (including as the satnav screen).  IMHO, Mazda UK's poor level of customer service (including that from many main dealers, as (IMHO) evidenced on this forum, is one of the reasons (as well as this issue and poor reliability of their diesel engined cars) why Mazdas don't sell anywhere near as well as they should be.  Also, some of the prices they charge for add-on/optional extras like the satnav 'upgrade' or the spare wheel and tyre are, in my view, an utter rip-off for what you get.

And here is the problem probably, the original supplied Mazda SD cards were 8GB not 16. As far as I'm aware you cannot move the files (even via the toolbox) from the original SD card onto a larger SD card due to the Mazda security encryption, unless maybe it's a Mazda supplied replacement? I can see another Mazda kerching moment coming....

:)  I own and run a 2018 Mazda2 SENav as well as the 3  :)  The update went faultlessly for me.  I'm sad that others are having difficulties.

The update went ok for me too. Agreed, I had the "insufficient space" message but all one has to do is select the UK only option and it will download and install. I would imagine very few people would require the Russian data. My only gripe about the update(s) is that there are still road changes/amendments/new ones still not appearing.
