MZD - help needed for serial console hacking of CMU
« on: May 07, 2018, 06:28:55 PM »
Hi,

I have come to this forum even though I own an MX-5 not a 3, following suggestion from the MX-5 forum as our cars share the same entertainment system.

I am looking for a shop or an enthusiast that can help me work around the inability to load apps from USB.

My almost-new 2018 MX-5 is running version 59.00.502 of MZD
As described by https://mazdatweaks.com/ I cannot install apps via USB, I need serial console access once to work around that, as described by
http://mazda3revolution.com/forums/2014-2017-mazda-3-skyactiv-audio-electronics/200450-aio-tweaks-firmware-ver-502-read.html#post2081162
Software development and Unix OSs are my bread and butter, but physically detaching the unit and making a cable are tasks I do not trust myself to do.

So, I am looking for a shop or an enthusiast that can do that bit for me. I live near Kingston Upon Thames.

Has anyone any pointers please ?

thanks! Edo
