My beloved Mazda 3 Sport stolen
« on: January 09, 2018, 10:07:39 AM »
Hi all,
Just had my beloved Mazda 3 Sport diesel stolen on the 4th January in Middlesbrough. Mid blue metallic 62 plate last three letters ...JEU.

Please keep an eye open for me.
Worst start to my New Year  :(

Cheers

Sorry to hear this.  Do the police have any ideas ?   :(

Hi willpower, thanks.

Nope, was reported literaly within minutes of being snatched and Cleveland police been pretty proactive but unless it pings an NR camera im not holding out much hope. Just hoping more eyes on the road never know some Mazda owner might spot it.
I know what it's like when you own a car you always seem to notice similar cars and give a wave.

I've asked Forum admistrators to maybe set up a sticky post for people in a similar situation. I know I would be more than willing to assist if I could help someone else with the same misfortune.

Thanks again,
W

I'll keep an eye out (I'm in Tyne and Wear) but chances of it being on the road on its' own plates are pretty low. Any identifying marks on it like damage or stickers?

Cheers Stephen. Yeah pretty sure won't be driven in original guise but maybe switched plates might turn up on another Mazda 3. I never saw another Indigo sport around in all my miles in the North East so pretty few and far between. Unfortunately no stickers and in fantastic state...well before it was stolen it was!!  :'(

Crap man, not a good start.  >:(

Doubtless it won't be driven with original plates but make sure you deregister from any toll bridges or the like (and DVLA paperwork). Different situation but made my blood boil paying for the guy that **bought** my last car. At least I'd registered on a auto-pay system; didn't get a full fine for the privilege.

Thanks for all the support guys.  Car was recovered no more than a week later dumped by youths and burnt out!  Absolutely gutted that such a fine piece of engineering can be wasted in such a way.  Simply not enough deterants in place to stop this sort of action I guess.
But as they say life goes on and I've recently took the plunge and replaced the 2012 model with a 64 plate M3 sport nav.

However as good as it is I have some gripes. Maybe for another thread though.

Again thanks for all the messages and support

Big and small misses from the older model;
Heated windscreen, thanks to Ford I believe
Cabin storage, where has it all gone!?
Interior led lighting, nice little touch and made life just a little easier.
Sliding armrest gone.
Shopping bag and tie down hooks gone from boot space, surely these weren't too heavy or expensive to justify removing.
Roof rack fixing points, suppose I have to sell old Mazda bars and buy new again!
Wing mirrors, why are they so far back?
MZD connect now that's a whole new inconvenience and time waster all together...!

Now the improvements;
Cruise control switches far more intuitive
Road noise seems better and very slightly softer ride.
Overall body styling

Miss my 62 plate, wished I could have found one the same but maybe people just love them o much they won't let them go  ;)

I've only just come across this post (I'm often looking for ones pertaining to this part of the world). I'm sorry to hear that some greasy skidmarks on the sweaty underpants of humanity mis-treated your pride and joy like that. Hopefully karma bites them hard very soon.

Your observations on the switch to the newer model were of interest to me. I do think the current styling is more striking than the former vintage and looks very nice. Hopefully you are growing accustomed to the changes you found less favourable now.
So I was stood there trying to work out why the cricket ball was getting larger and larger...and then it hit me.

Your description of the low life's gave me a chuckle and yes I hope fate deals them a hand they deserve.

No doubt about this model it is certainly a well styled looking car.  Still can't understand the side mirror positioning being so far back other than clearances when the the door is opened.  Maybe should have made them smaller.  Just my opinion.

Anyway all the little niggles like storage and boot hooks I've worked around. Found some really cheap D hook and brackets that fit great in tapped holes provided behind plastic cover.  Will post pic when sprayed and fitted.

Struggling to find third party roof rack. This will be the third set I've had to buy, 60 plate,  2012 and now hunting for 64 plate bars.  First 2 had fixed roof screw in fixings but this one has nothing but the roof groove.

Only thing niggling about the overall drive in this petrol ver, which seems to be an improvement in all departments,  is the 6 speed manual box.  3rd and fourth are really clunky and fidgety.  Much preferred the 5 speed gear selection in previous D sport.

Learning to love her like the last one,  sure I will eventually. Just still in mourning maybe :'( :)
