Very pleased to be accepted as a new member

Recently purchased a 10 plate Mazda 3 Takura 1.6 petrol, to replace a Mazda 323F 1.5 1996,which I have owned for the last 18 years.
Sadly it has had to where all old Mazda cars go (almost all) sad to see her go

Very pleased with the new car, comes with full Mazda service history,  all the gadgets that I have discovered work, still some more to discover

The vehicle is due a service shortly, making enquires at a recomended Mazda dealership in Grimbsby they have told me their is a waranty recall on the tailgate gas struts, saying that I received a warranty recall notice for the 323F last year, relating to the ignition switch

Only one question at the moment, reg doc says Takura but on the rear tailgate the badge says Sport, there is evidence of a good repair to the O/S/R quarter so I wonder if someone has replaced with the wrong badge

I'm sure I will have plenty more questions in the future

Steve

Is it a Takuya or Takara? Due to Mazdas naming policy these things get a bit confusing.  The sport is the top model so may well have taken the opportunity to do a sneaky upgrade.

It should say either Takuya or Takara on the boot lid so it's been altered.

Edit: Actually it will be a Takuya, Takara was a gen 1 edition.

I could be wrong, but isn't the Sport front grille different from the rest of the model range? You could register with MyMazda at https://www.mazda.co.uk/mymazda/#/login/  , but if the reg doc says Takuya, that's what it'll be.

Had a thought, you might want to have a look around the panels and look for the tamper proof vin stickers. These are on the bonnet, wings, front doors, rear quarter panels (above the rear lights), bumpers and finally the tail gate.

Check to see they match/are present, obviously missing sticker/wrong vin suggests a replacement panel. Will give you an idea how extensive repairs are. Also it may be the tailgate has been replaced with a salvage panel from a sport in the same colour.

Sport and Takuya look identical externally, but if it's a takuya it won't have a heated screen, bose branded door speakers or keyless entry.

Also 7 is a good age to buy in..year 6 service is huge year 7 is just an oil change so should be cheap provided it's on schedule.

Thanks for the replies

V5C (registration document) has it down as a Takuya, mind you before the electronic registration process (AFRL) I have seen some strange variations on model types, basically the dealer could almost write anything they liked.
eg Have a look at https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?page=2&q=mazda+323, more models than Mazda ever made, I will be corrected if wrong

Mazda dealerships heve it down as a Takuya

It hasn't keyless entry, heated windscreen or a Bose sound system

So I purchased a Takuya and have got a Takuya

All tamper proof VIN stickers are present and correct

Quoted £125 for the service (Mazda Main Dealership)

They will also carry out 2 recalls, Tailgate (struts) and a drivers seat height adjuster modification

Many Thanks for the replies and advice
