Vibration/rattle - dash glove box area
« on: May 14, 2016, 12:48:57 PM »
Hi,
For the past week or two I've had a slight vibration/rattle from somewhere behind centre dash/glove box area. It's got to the point where it's quite frequent and a distraction. Today I've stripped out radio, vent panel, glove box and still can't find anything loose. Has anyone encountered anything similar at all? Noise is only present when car is moving, will not show if ticking over or revved when stationary. Any thoughts appreciated.

Just a thought. Does it appear when the ventilation blower is turned on ?   i.e  is it possible that there is something ( a dead leaf ) lodged somewhere in the ventilation pipework that might be causing the noise.
Or maybe the pipework itself.

Look at life through the windscreen, not the rearview mirror.

Problem solved. Convinced missus to drive whilst I searched around for something loose. (Bit tricky to do on your own!) Turned out to be the plastic shroud behind the rear view mirror. Sorry.....

Strangely that was something the tech mentioned when Mazda had my car chasing what turned out to be operating noise from the steering box. As a result I imagine you're not the 1st person it has annoyed.
