On the assumption that the Mazda 3 has the same Sat Nav updates as the Mazda 2, I updated my Mazda 2 a couple days ago and the latest Map update was dated December 2016 although it does not show recent road changes in my area some of which occured over a year ago!

I see that a July update is available. If you are out of your three free years however, the cost is about £165.00 for another three, or about £105.00 for one. Seems a bit steep.

It's a lot steep! Better off buying a TomTom or Garmin with free updates for life. Would stick nicely over the existing screen.
Come on Mazda, play the game.... you're way behind the times on this one!

This is a continual grip of mine. The Sat Nav map updates are to infrequent, the Mazda Toolbox should be smart enough to email you to let you know that updates are available without you having to take the SD card out of the car to check if an update exists, it would not be hard to do, linked to your subscription, it’s just very poor service for a very expensive product.
Even after map updates, there continue to be inconsistencies, incorrect road speed warnings, camera alerts etc. that have been wrong for the 2.5 years I have had the vehicle.

I have spoken to Mazda regarding how poor this is, the response was “it’s the same system as installed in Mercedes vehicles”. I do not give two hoots what Mercedes put in their vehicles!

You can purchase a Garmin for approx. £100 with free lifetime map updates (every 3 months I think), and free traffic alerts, no need to tether to a mobile phone. I have a really old Garmin, and it still gets map updates (and traffic), but map updates are now every 6 months as product is EOL.

I was notified by email that updates were available, hence I know the price. Maybe they only email you once the free updates have expired. You need to O.K. newsletters on Mazda Toolbox to get this service.
