VO14 SNN - white Mazda 3 hatch - spotted inside the M25.  O0 Perfect example of why I think white's a pita to keep, desperately in need of borrowing my Karcher  :P

Built number wheel cleaner.  I'm saying no more.

Do you mean Bilt Hamber? Feel as though auto correct has a done a number on you!
I did indeed...bloomin thing.

Seriously no karcher needed it is jaw droppingly good...and expensive

3333 miles in and loving almost everything about the car. For Christmas we took it all the way from London to Cairnryan in south west Scotland, a drive of over 6 hours, and with only 1 stop for in a petrol station - not even a roadside service station - we arrived in considerably more comfort than used to be the case with the old Civic.

I've noticed anecdotally that it seems to be more efficient petrol mileage wise to put the car in Manual 6 mode instead of leaving it in automatic drive mode as the auto drops down to fifth, even fourth sometimes going up hills to maintain the speed. I'll continue to try this out.

This was the first time we really got to make good use of the cruise control as opposed to just using the speed limiter and it performed absolutely fine and was a welcome feature we'd not had in the old Civic - though we've had it in many hire and borrowed cars over the years so knew what to expect. One oddity I wasn't expecting that pleasantly surprised me was having been in Manual 6th gear I forgot when approaching a roundabout on the A1 - didn't have to stop just slow down a lot and noticed on the other side of the roundabout that the gear had dropped automagically to 4th. Obviously if it hadn't I'd have had a pretty jerky ride over the roundabout, possibly dangerously so so was pleased to find this a feature.

Have to run... more miles to come :)

Ticking along nicely. No complaints. A bit of a Mazda convert I even have my eye on an MX-5 RF now. Not convinced they'll ever pull off the new rotary or I'd seriously consider that. Hmm. Maybe I should stick with just paying off the mortgage first... lol.

I may be trying to get the Mrs to swap the DS3 for a 2 not sure I could get her to agree to an MX5 though!

Given the fuel/oil economy and current climate they'll be lucky the last working rotary car they built was a petrol electric Mazda 2. It was an interesting concept and due to the engine being used at a constant speed and occasionally it got around the rotor wear issues suffered by them.

They have recently filed a patent for the sky activ R though so it looks though they are giving it another whirl.

Hi Swampy, I hear that you ahev the Mazda 3 SE-L Auto, whioch is the one that attracts me at present after being with |Honda for years.  How is it going and do you have the switch for a hand brake, which I thought was rather different, perhaps until the battery fails!

Hi Malcolm,

Replied in your original thread. tl;dr I'm loving it, no regrets at all though the serial Civics served me well for many years. The quality of the interior finish is what finally pushed me over the edge; just wasn't impressed by the cheapness of the Civic when I went to market.

Mine's a year old so has the proper handbrake; can't comment on the switch jobby; don't like the idea tbh.

I agree with you there mr. 9swampy.  Electronic handbrakes suck in stop start traffic.  I had one on a VW.  horrible.
