New 2015 Sport Nav 120ps jet black mica hatch
« on: July 23, 2015, 10:40:13 AM »
Picked up by Mitsui OSK's Progress Ace vehicle carrier while docked between the 18th and 19th July at Nakanoseki, my new eagerly awaited toy is now steaming across the south China sea on it's way. It should arrive in the UK late August - due in ZeeBrugge on the 17th but then add the short trip across the channel to the dealer. I'm probably going to get the AutoGlym shield detail done if there's time between arrival and release of the new 65 plate: then pick up on 1st September 2015. Roll on the 1st  >:D so long as my colleagues at work don't have me strung up and quartered for going on about it so much first   O0 :-X  :-\

That said, in 12 odd weeks since we started looking around and first considered the 3... we've still not seen a single gen 3 on the road - and not too many gen 1 or 2 for that matter. Where are all you guys hiding? :o The other two that made the shortlist; Civic and Scirocco we've seen quite a few (latest gen) so tbh I'm looking forward to the prospect of being that little bit different from the crowd.

Mazda's have always been a little more elusive. It's part of the appeal of having something "different" from the Mondeo/Golf/........(add any other common all garden make in here)

You don't give your location so you are not going to get many responses local to you.   Where abouts are you ?

Wait till it arrives you'll see them everywhere..

Might depend on where you are in the country but round Newcastle we have 2 big Hodgson's where the vast majority seem to come from (mine did as well!). They seem to do a very good job of shifting them so I see multiples most days of gen 2s and gen 3s. Think my record was seeing 4 gen 2 takuyas in white (same spec as mine) in one 7 mile trip, I'd thought I'd never see myself coming the other way!.

They aren't as common as your normal golf/Focus but there are certainly lots around.

I'm mostly in and around London or out the Hertfordshire thoroughfares. I knew they were "more exclusive" ;) than your off the mill Focus/Golf, tbh it's a fair part of the attraction and a small factor that played against going Civic for the fifth time in a row - I'm just surprised by the total blank drawn so far. Makes me think; spare part costs?  :-\ I'll keep looking - and if I still haven't seen any when it arrives it may just give me the excuse for a road trip all the way up to Newcastle to break her in 8).

40 sleeps til Christmas  >:D

There's a good Mazda community in the Northeast. So you'll see plenty up there.

Here's a taster from a few years ago     http://www.mazda3forums.co.uk/index.php?topic=8555.0

Surely to be truly rare and unusual you must be rocking a Gen 2 saloon, a car that was so good no one bought one because well it was like trying to chat up a girl that's out of your league,  you know you aren't good enough for that, so you had to buy the hatch.

Seriously I've seen 2 ever..I didn't even know they were officially supplied to the UK until I saw one on the road. Anything else is just playing.

So now we're anchored off the coast of Singapore, and going nowhere I guess until tomorrow morning.

Has anyone here been to Singapore on a Saturday night? What's the chances of a drunken repeat of the Cougar Ace tomorrow?  :o Grr.

..or the Baltic Ace for that matter.

This Mitsui OSK line of "Aces" doesn't seem to have much luck! Get back to work you seadogs... bring me my toys!

O0 didn't mean to cause any confusion  :-X

Spent a couple of hours on the roads yesterday, not so much today. Still no Gen 3's seen regardless; no fastback/saloon/sedans of any Generation. Lot's of 6s and a good few earlier generation 3s though.

Think of it as an opportunity to baffle friends and colleagues...most people won't be able to look at your car and make an educated guess as to your take home pay. Also you can have comedy moments such as a friend telling you he likes your car, he'd like something this flash but he just has to make do with his Astra..(which you happen to know cost more than your car, costs more to run and insure...).

O0 Better than the one I've already had; a colleague telling me I should have gone with a Focus as "it beats everything else in it's class in virtually every review". Wrong - the 3's invariably just edging ahead on build and drive quality nowadays... but then when price is taken in to the equation for the toys supplied standard on the higher trims there's no competition at all.  ^-^ Plus it isn't a Focus (see above)  ::)

BTW: 38 sleeps now and we're half way up the Malacca Strait atm...
