Guard x
« on: June 20, 2015, 03:37:05 PM »
Not a good start to my first Mazda 3 Sat nav. Bought it as a pre-reg two months old. I was persuaded  into having the car treated with Guard X which I did. Three days after getting the car I gave it a quick flash over with the hosepipe, and noticed that the water run off had a oil type film on its surface. Next day it rained and I noticed after it had dried off the body was covered with small circles where the droplets of water had been, they would not shift, they had set hard like a resin. My first thoughts was the Guard X so contacted the car dealership. The car  was returned to them and they decided that the Guard X would have to be re applied, so they had it for nearly two days. When I picked the car up it was nice and shiny. When I got home I gave it the once over and to may dismay I found in all the door  openings " runs" where it had not been washed off properly, checked under the bonnet it was just the same, ok not a problem I just thought the valeter's  had done a poor job cleaning off. Then I noticed a powder that had not been cleaned out of every small crevasse, only to realise that they must have been using a commercial type of " T Cut" with power tools to remove the  Guard X.
As you can imagine I am not to pleased that a new car has had the paintwork attacked like this. I am worried that down the road in a year or two I may see problems. Any advise would be appreciated either to pacify me or guide  me .
I do intend to challenge the dealership as I think this should not have been done to what is a new car.

I don't have any experience with Guard X, but I have experience with Autoglym Lifeshine and SupaGard.

Both products advise to not wash the car for 7 days from the date of application to reduce the risk of this happening.
