glove box and number plate bulbs
« on: March 04, 2015, 05:57:53 PM »
Hi, does anyone know how to get to the glove box bulb? I've tried removing silver trim but the last bit by the door won't come off?
Also how does the number plate lights come off?
It's a 2010 mazda 3 btw :)

I know I'm a month late...however in case you haven't figured how to do the number plates lights out yet (it's not in the manual which is surprising given it explains how radio waves work).

At either end of the unit there should be a flat back plastic clamp to the bumper, slide a flat blade under it while pushing the unit towards the number plate. Do this carefully, as you are very close to painted surfaces and you don't want to snap the tabs off.

Do it again at the other end, you should now have a dangling lamp unit, but you will have to bend the bumper to fit it through the slot.

Turn the bulb holder 1/4 turn and hey presto a 501 bulb.

I've not looked at the glovebox bulb yet.

It'll be there in case anyone else is wondering, although after I'd posted I did actually find it in the manual which did it a different way. Did you remove the whole unit as I have or pop the front off which is the way in the manual?

Had a look at the glovebox bulb...it looks to be an epic faff for not much benefit, you can see the back of it through the fusebox panel but you'd have to take the dash to bits.

True! I removed the whole unit as seemed to be the easiest way.
I gave up even thinking about the glove box light seemed a bit ridiculous to just change a bulb lol!
