AUTO climate control setting
« on: December 27, 2014, 11:10:47 PM »
I hope someone can shed some light on this - I have just bought a 2009 2.2 sport model, and cannot find a definitive answer for this anywhere!

Basically, when I select the climate control AUTO setting - the air con button also illuminates. However, if you then switch the air con button off... the AUTO setting is still activated.

So, can AUTO climate control function properly without the air con button on? Or does it not make a difference? It's confusing me as I can't find a definitive answer in the handbook!

Any advice would be great!

The handbook states:

Pressing the A/C switch while the AUTO
switch is turned on will turn off the air
conditioning (cooling/dehumidifying
functions). The air conditioning can be
turned on and off by pressing the A/C
switch while the fan control dial is on.
NOTE
l The air conditioning operates when the A/C
switch is pressed even if the fan is off.

In the winter you will not have any problem maintaining your required temperature but w/o dehumidifying may well get misted windows. In summer you will not be able to go cooler than the outside air temperature.

Thanks Misar - that makes sense at last! This is the first car I've owned with climate control, so it's all a new experience for me.
