MPG - Mazda2 Sport 1.6 53"
« on: January 16, 2014, 10:11:01 PM »
Hello all I'm new to this and wanted someones opinion, I have a 53 plate mazda2 sport, and I don't think my fuel is doing to we'll don't know anyone who has The same car as me to compare so headed onto the internet.

I put say £10 of petrol in and get 60miles then petrol light comes on?
Is this to low? Also what is the reserve when petrol light on? Never chanced it as didn't want to be left stranded...

I have had 4 new tyres put on the car to brand new from mazda! So doubt it's them

Thanks all  ;)

I would firstly like to apologise that our sister forum mazda2forums.co.uk is unfortunately off line at the moment. I'm sure that when we get it up and running again, that the members there will be able to help you more with a specific Mazda2 question.

However to help out in the meantime perhaps you could give us a bit more information.
Do you know what your normal fuel consumption figure is ?   Is this £10 that you are putting in from a "needle on zero" point?
I'm afraid no Mazda 3 owner (unless they own a Mazda 2 also) will be able to tell you the amount of fuel left when the fuel light comes on. What is the size of the tank ?

If you give us these figures then perhaps we can help you out.    :)

Hey thanks for trying to help me :P
I'll answers your questions, I fill up from empty (not good I know)
Normally should be 42.2 something like that.
My car is 1.6 but does that sound really low would you say? Hopeless I am!
Always at the petrol station lol

Cheers,
Scott

OK , So doing some simple calculations as follows.

£10 say at £1.38per ltr  = 7ltrs

7 Ltrs  = 1.53 galls

If you normally do 42 mpg then 1.53 galls should  take you about 63 miles

Does that help ?
