From what I can remember that sounds pretty much identical to what mine was doing, I think one was very dimly lit.

I will try get time tomorrow to take the light fitting out, I can show you which diode I changed.

Not sure what your like with electronics/electrical things.

Right managed to get some pictures today, to remove the light unit you can follow the following steps.

First remove the lens by using small flat headed screwdriver in the slight gaps in the lens.

Once these are removed there are four clips that you need to press while gently pulling the light unit out. Best to move through each four and keep going round untill the unit comes out of holder.
The location of each clip can be seen below:

Once the unit comes out you can see where the harness attaches in, this can also be unplugged.

When you have the unit out, it looks like the below.
I have shown the two diodes which were faulty in the unit I had and replaced.

The diodes should read the following, (if you have a multimeter with a diode setting) -ve(black lead) to cathode side (the side with the silver stip. +ve(red lead) to anode side, this way round you should get a reading of approx 0.7V, if you swap the connections over you should get no reading.

Hope this helps, if you need to ask any more feel free.

If your struggling for diodes, I may have some kicking about. There cheap to buy from anywhere though.

From the post before the standard ones are 1N4004 which are fitted, the ones had laid about were 1N4007.

Unlocked car this morning and got in and guess what....... Both lights worked.  Took light unit out and tested diodes and both read approx 773 on my volt meter.

Sounds like its a different problem to what I had, mine was the diodes that had gone but if its reading 0.629 there fine.
