Front Bumper
« on: October 24, 2013, 07:47:33 PM »
Evening all. With being new to the Mazda scene and the Mazda 3 im a bit lost and confused by the amount of trims and bumpers and spec.

An example one car has round fogs and one has square shaped fogs, all seem to be 2010 onwards. can anyone share a link to a history of faces and trims?

thanks.

Thanks for the reply, iv had a search around but no clear explanation of when a certain version got a certain bumper etc. I assumed there may be a sticky or a post outlining this.

Correct me if im wrong but only the mps has round fog lights? Your best bet would be to jump on the mazda website and look on there. The mazda forums dont like it when you make new threads thats why the forum is so quiet.

So neither are MPS

Round

Square

Just curios to why they differ and what models?

Is it all the same bumper but with different fogs?

Can the fogs and plastics be changed on both bumpers?

Thanks

The round fogs appeared after yet another facelift on models later than the ones with square fogs. I believe bumpers were also slightly modified as can be seen from your pictures. I am not sure when the changeover took place (on 2011 models?). The change was subtle but was in the right direction!

The above two photos are for two completely different markets, so take that into account. I also can't tell with the 2nd photo if the car is a hatch or not, so the bumpers would differ slightly if the car is a sedan.

Doubt you'll find any aftermarket alternatives for the design of the fog light surrounds (if that's what you're asking)?

I did find an American company that make a complete grill with LED replacement lights which are round but I am not sure they'd fit a car which has the more square shaped ones.

I'll see if I can find the link and post it on here.

As an aside, does anyone else think that the square fog lamps are as useful as a chocolate teapot?  Mine are absolutely hopeless.

My Gen 1 Takara had the square fogs & my new 2013 facelift Gen 2 has the round ones- I think the square ones are better (brighter), they certainly throw more light at the nearside kerb than the new ones.
