1.6 Sport petrol
« on: June 10, 2013, 09:33:15 PM »
Hello,

I'm new to the forums and new to Mazda world. If everything goes well I'll be a happy owner of a 09 Mazda 3 Sport (1.6 petrol, 5grs) hatchback.

I must admit though, that the specs are quite confusing. I've been told that the Sport version is the top of the line, top spec version and yet the one I'll be picking up doesn't have quite a few things. For example: no cruise control, no heated seat, no leather, no foot lamp, pedals are rubber. I have also asked about front heated windscreen, but I was told by the dealer that this is "Ford's only patented technology and no other maker has it" and yet I see it being mentioned in some Mazda 3's. So I'm not sure whether mine has it.

I guess I'll know more tomorrow, but just wanted to mention that Mazda specs are not the easiest to follow (or maybe I'm just thick).

EDIT: Also I seem to have keyless entry system, but no start/stop button.

Hi Ad, my 2009 brochure says your spec should be as TS2 models + extras. Regards Keith h

Hi guys,

it is an old shape but 2009 (registered in April) so it must be one of the last ones in the older generation, which is a goo dthing, because I'm not a big fan of the new generation look.

Keith it is most definitely Sport version. I have Bose 7 speaker soundysytem, keyless entry, xenon lights, tinited windows, automatic climate control, 17" alloys, Sport bodywork pack.

I love the car, but it is going back to the dealer on Monday. They "forgot" to fix the brakes for me. It should be back with me the next day, fixed for free and courtesy car until it's fixed.

Few photos:

It's a quite a funny story, because I hated the colour at first. I'm a big fan of the usual white, black, silver, blue cars. But after biting the bullet and spending some time with it, I like it. It certainly is a bit different and standing out, but I think I can live with it ;)

Thanks Keith :)

1 day into the ownership I was passing through a roadworks where they were resurfacing the road, something splattered one side of my car. I ended up with many chips on the paint and some kind of very hot liquid that melted into the glass. Every piece of glass on the driver's side of the car needs to be replaced plus the back heated window has 1-2 spots. Every panel on the side of the car has many tiny chips, plus the bonnet and front bumper. The final bill must be in thousands. Autocare quoted me £1600 just to replace the glass.

I spoke to the operational manager in the council that is responsible for the roadworks today and he asked me to put it all in writing and email it to him. He will try to put it through their insurance. As usual with stuff like this though, it will probably take months and even then the outcome can't be predicted.

I just cannot believe it.

Yup, I believe it's called True Red. It looks a bit orangey in a direct sunlight though :)

It's hard to photograph really as it is many small spots on every glass panel on the driver's side of the car.

Here you go:
