£200 for a glovebox?
« on: October 13, 2012, 08:52:44 PM »
The catch on our 2008 Mazda3 glovebox has broken so the lid won't stay shut. Mazda say this is a sealed unit so a whole new lid etc has to be bought at about £200 fitted. Seems a lot for something that feels could be fixed.

Anyone else had this?

Nope.  How about a trip to the breakers yard.

It had crossed my mind but I thought if it broke this easy, how long would a used one last? At least with a new one it should last another 4 years.

I'm sure I saw on the internet that you could buy new, replacement mechanisms for the glovebox but can't find them now. I must have been dreaming it!
