Windscreen claim
« on: February 11, 2008, 12:19:18 PM »
Hi eveyone, this is just a general question about about the windscreen repair/replacement policy, spoke to lady at autoglass as windscreen needs replacing (not my car thank god, but my dads corsa, even worse!!, decided to change his wipers while he was on holiday, and well you can guess what happen the blades was out and the arm decided to fall onto the windscreen and cracking it, ok I might have by accident knock the arm casuing it to fall) Anyways phone autoglass up after looking in yellow pages, and was told excess was £60 and that this won't effect the no claims discount bonus, which I hope is true else my dad won't be very happy with me  :-(  any comments or assurance that this is the case. Hopefully won't make the insurance go up when coming for renew etc
:-)  Also very nice lady say she handle all the paper work etc with the insurance company.

usually if your insurance is fully comp, you just pay the excess for the windscreen and it dont affect your no claims or unsurance premium.

Look at life through the windscreen, not the rearview mirror.

Yep, agreed, generally claiming on windscreens does not affect your no claims bonus and does not have to be declared as a claim next time you buy insurance. At least that's what happened to me a couple of years ago when I needed a new windscreen on my Land Rover.

Hope that helps,
Chris

Went shopping earlier today and this is the result.

Stone or something flicked up by an oncoming lorry and a loud bang against the screen approx 1" from the edge. By the time I got
home ten minutes later this was what it looked like.

I'm not happy, but £50 excess is better than the full price of a sceen I suppose. Getting replaced on Saturday AM.

I know you can see the satnav sucker mark, this has now been cleaned off lol.
