What's the best car polish?
« on: January 27, 2012, 10:42:10 PM »
Right just got a true red sport last weekend. I know red paint is prone to fading so what is the best polish to use?
I used to use mer ultimate polish and can't grumble with this as you can use on wet paint work and glass. Before that I used auto glym super resin polish.

Any tips / hints?

Cheers

It won't fade because it's clear coated.

As a good all round polish that's easy to use I would recommend autoglym super resin polish and if you have a bit more time put a coat of gloss protection on too.

There are more expensive options but they also need a bit more effort.

Good advice from Andy. I would recommend a decent clay bar first - I would recommend Bilt Hambler (soft or medium). Or if you wan the totally idiot prof way Meguires surface detailing kit. If you want pro advice then head over to detailingworld.co.uk

also recommend super resin polish. The autoglym hi-def wax is also good for after polish.

Its great to finish over the top with - great for lazy detailers like me! Doesn't really add much finish - but its very durable.

I have used this wax for a few years and recommend it very highly. Easy to apply, great beading and lasts for ages. Excellent value.

autoglym acid free wheel cleaner, autoglym traffic film & bug remover, autoglym tar and adhesive remover. As for polish just go new formula autoglym super resin and a tub of hi-def wax.

I use all the above on day-to-day basis and cant fault it.

P.s i buy these in trade drums so these names might vary from local car shops!!!
