ELECTRIC DOOR MIRROR

Had the drivers door of our 2017 Mazda 3 Sport Nav resprayed to repair a scratch. The electric folding door mirror was removed for the respray and replaced afterward. When the car is stopped or started the drivers door mirror will not fold in or out when in the Auto position. I believe this mirror is irretrievably damaged. Does anyone know the part No for a new right side electric door  mirror (Less Glass and cap)?

Does the mirror power in and out when operated manually with the push button? If so it seems unlikely to be a fault with the mirror. Auto operation or not it is still using the same motor and gearing.

The motor works but only through a limited traverse.

Oops! One mirror glass location spigots broken when investigating wing mirror fault.   

Told by Mazda dealership that due to water ingress it is a common fault that wing mirrors "auto rotate" can fail and that it is difficult to detach wing mirror glass without breaking plastic location spigots on the rear of the glass.

Has anyone else experienced any of these two things?

2016 Sport Nav

Not quite the same problem, but I get the usual sticking mirror issue where one of the mirrors refuses to fold in or out from time to time. It's important they fold for me or I can't get the car into the garage, and the problem is  normally sorted with a blast of WD40.
 
You see, I use the folded-in passenger mirror as my guide for the car being far enough over to the left so that I can get out of the car without doing myself an injury. Only this time I didn't check that the driver's side mirror had folded in... and it hadn't    Crump!...and now the d/s mirror doesn't move at all in either direction (glass movement and indicators are all OK) and there's this constant whirring noise as the motor tries to move the mirror.

Mazda can fix it of course, hurrah! Or rather, they can replace it. At a cost. Just 324 of our finest British pounds, that's all 

Maybe I just need to remember that there are two mirrors, not one. Or perhaps Mazda should make mirrors that don't start sticking after only 2 or 3 years so that we mere drivers don't have to be so paranoid about what happens when they do! Grrrr!!!

This is a known fault at Mazda, my partner's driver door mirror started sticking on her 2017 2.2d and she had to have it fixed on the warranty. I'm not 100% sure but it might be a recall issue as well. They basically owned up to admitting there's a lot of cars with this problem.

I'm so glad this popped up. My D/S has started to fail occasionally when popping out. Thought someone had knocked it and broken it. Was going to suffer as I thought it would be a £300-400 fix.
Guess this will be warranty repaired along with the wiper motor recall

Ive just had the drivers side mirror motor replaced on my 2017 Sport Nav.
I'm told it's common across nearly all the model ranges right now, with a modified part being used.

Indeed - when my car was in a year ago for service, an owner of a gen-3 car had come in complaining about that very issue. Don't they check these things during the testing phase of R&D any more?  Are customers now the beta testers of car tech, just so they can get that tech to market first or to make sure they're not last out of the blocks?  So many 'little issues' (annoyances) on modern cars these days.

My partner's 2017 2.2d Sport has already had the motor replaced on the drivers side mirror. She's now going to need the passenger side doing as well due to the sticking issue. Both wing mirror motors (and a new DMF/clutch required) on a less than 3 year old car isn't the best really....disappointing.

I know, an old thread but I feature up above somewhere. Just to add that my passenger mirror has now gone kaput too. Same issue, lots of whirring but no folding. Two mirrors on a 2016 car at £300+ each (obviously out of warranty now), I thought I'd found a car I really like but this is souring the experience!!

It might be worth contacting Mazda UK directly about the wing mirrors and asking them for a goodwill payment for the repair. Apparently most dealerships were replacing these as a pair when one went faulty (due to the known issue) but a small number of dealerships were not doing this to cut corners and only replacing one to save themselves a few quid.

I bought my 2017 Sport Nav in January this year.
After a few months noticed that off side mirror did not always retract properly so contacted dealership I bought it from.
Had to take car in and they did replace some parts, don't know which, but said it was done under 'goodwill'!
At least it didn't cost me anything but then they informed me my fron brake pads needed replacing!!
Took it to another dealership as they should have told me about the worn brake pads when I bought it (I'd done less than a thousand miles since buying car)
Beginning to wonder if I bought the right car (although I do like driving it)
