Buying from SG Petch
« on: January 29, 2011, 06:36:44 PM »
Hello

Anyone had any problems buying accessories from SG Petch?

My order appears to be overdue, everytime I ring and if I get through, the receptionist tries to put me through to the parts dept, then she says there's no one there, can they ring me back. Inevitably no one rings back. This has happened a few times.
I had the initial processing email, then nothing, and my credit card has been debited.
I've had no problems with previous orders.
Any ideas

Thanks

You could ring up and just ask to speak to the parts department. Don't mention that you have a problem with your order.

How far past the expected delivery date are you?

Well its only been a week (since placing the order) so maybe I'm a bit paranoid but on previous occasions I've received the items within 3 to 4 days of placing the order.
They do say in their Ts & Cs that orders are usually processed within 48 hrs with an expected delivery notification email sent. But I've had received no emails and my account was debited almost immediately.

I do think expecting a delivery within a week is being a bit optimistic.
Most dealerships will not hold stock of everything they advertise on a website for two reasons.
a) they don't have the space and b) they would not generally hold stock of items that they are not likely to sell.
Most dealerships would order from the main Mazda distribution centre for Europe which is in Rotterdam. So I would say give it a few more days.

However I would agree with you that not receiving a response to your telephone calls is very annoying. Perhaps a letter or email to the dealer principle is in order.

Personally I have not had a problem, but I dont think its been the same since they moved into their noew premisis and now share three brands in one place.

Thanks everyone for replying,
OK I will give it a few more days as I was going on previous experience as my last order in November only took 4 days. But it is annoying when they don't keep you informed as promised, fob you off and don't return phone calls.

Like a lot of companies nowadays, they probably don't carry a large stock of spares and rely on a "next day" courier delivery from a central store when accessories are ordered.  I had to wait for a touch-up paint set but was told that was to do with the lacquer being a hazardous substance which they couldn't keep on-site!

But they do say on their website that if the items are not in stock they will back order, and you get the option of canceling or waiting. Back ordered items are not charged until in stock and available for delivery.
None of this has happened in my case, ie no email and charged immediately.

In that case you have a case as to why they charged immediately. If you don't receive your item soon,  then firstly you need to confirm if it was on back order. If that was the case then obviously they should not have charged you.
This is basically the dealership covering their costs by charging you in the first place, a contradiction to the statement on their website.
For the customer not very ethical. For the business it makes perfect sense even if a bit risky. But that's what businesses are like these days.

Eventually got through today, parts are on back order but should get them next week.

Nothing exciting ordered, just some front mudflaps as I find the paintwork very prone to stone chips especially with the state of the roads around here. Hopefully they will protect the bottom of the doors a bit better.

This really pee's me off with companies.  It's no so much the issue with a delay in providing something, or an issue with a purchased product, it's the lack of quality service.  All too often they jump to attention when you're spending money, but after they have it they are useless.

Which was exactly my experience with this company. They took my money easily, but when I rang up to complain they'd mis-advertised their part, I hit a brick wall time & time again. I just gave up in the end as it wasn't worth worrying about, just lost any business from me in the future and I'd tell anybody to steer clear. I could run the business better from my garage.
