Dash Cam?
« on: November 10, 2016, 03:43:20 PM »
Sorry if wrong forum, couldn't see one for Dash Cams  :o

I have a Next Base 202 Lite (present).
https://www.nextbase.co.uk/dashcams/in-car-cam-202-lite/

It has a power cable (obviously) but it has to be fitted to a cigarette lighter.
My 2014 Mazda 3 only has one under the centre arm rest, with makes it impossible to fit due to the length of the cable. :(

Has anyone here had the same problem and found a way to fit it please?

Yes.  You can buy a long USB lead that has a piggy back fuse that  plugs into the fuse holder, over near the front passenger footwell.

I then routed the cable under the door rubber an into the headlining by the wind screen all very discreet and neat.

I wired mine to the centre light panel on the roof as on the link above. The hardwire kit E.T. linked would work - includes pretty much the same bits I put together. Has worked perfectly for a year, it's tidy and easy. :)

Thanks for that info swampy, but I've already booked into Halfords to fix it for £30 including the fixing kit ;)
At least I can go back if any problems occur.

How are you getting on with this. Is the dashcam proving to be good? I was thinking about getting one even though I have fortunately not been involved in any problems for years. Any other comments from anyone with Dash Cams and reviews would also be helpful.

Booked in to have it fitted Monday Badger ;)
I'll update you when I've had it a week or so.
I think it makes difference with insurance if you have one. :)

Thanks Will,

also wondering if anyone bothers with fitting a small cam-dash for the rear?  With the rear end crashes, that may not be a bad idea and it can just be left to run on - just in case?

Well it's been fitted.
OK for a while, then when I looked closer the time was all out, and I couldn't get into the menu for some reason.
I took it back to Halfords the next day, and the guy reset it again.
I asked what he thought the problem was. His answer,....Must've been a glitch  ::)
I've had a browse through the Manual, but nothing there I can see.
I'll keep an eye on it, and if it does it again, I'll insist on a change/refund.
Unless one of you guys can throw some light on it.  :)
