I haven't got the screen myself, but seen it in action and think I know enough about it to say that it is outstandingly easy to install.  If you want Navigation through it, you will have to look for a Garmin GVN 53, Alpine NVE-N099P, or something else along those lines...
Now: 2006 Honda Civic FK3 2.2 iCTDI EX Cosmic Grey Pearl / Mega Spec / iPod / Interior Lighting
Then: 2005 Mazda 3 1.6D TS Hatch Winning Blue Metallic / ICE / Bluetooth / HIDs / Nice Trim

Yes, i bought the same monitor cheaper than the xenon store. check this web site: www.caradvanced.com I bought here.
I've installed the monitor by myself, it's easy. I've used a Garmin GVN 53. they sell it also, the price is cheaper than garmin web site.

I've installed a dvd player also:

It looks so much better than an original monitor because i have more options than just a navi. ;D

They always recommend install it in the back, behind the seat to get a best reception.
I got the kit from them.

$300 you say.. hmmm sounds like customs will most definitely open the packaging to see what it is..

when i order my bits from the US, i normally ask the guys to send the item as a gift under the value of $50, equivalent to £25. as long a gift item is below £36, you normally escape from custom duties.. but guessing with the value of the screen etc.. the lady who sent it off didnt wanna take no risks for insurance etc..

looking forward 2 see your install ;)

as you have the garmin gps kit, where did you connect the speed sensing wire from the GPS unit to the car wiring? thats the only thing that seems tricky to me.. cheers
