Noisy ++ at tickover
« on: December 23, 2023, 11:37:00 AM »
2018 120hp Sportnav,   engine runs fine , but when left ticking over, occasionally develops  loud rattling that sounds terrible, it is intermittent so hard to diagnose,
anybody else had this issue?.   no warning lights showing when it happens.

Is it actually the engine?  It might be the radiator or the cabin ventilation system fans with some debris stuck in between the blades and housing, debris/gunk on the fan/motor shaft or a duff motor bearing?  I think that's what sometimes causes my car to do the same, but then mine is much older at 18 years old.  Might be worth a check, though your car should be new enough that fault / worn components shouldn't be an issue.

Many years ago on my Gen 1 the AC compressor decided to throw a wobbly. The noise was horrifying.   Are you using AC ?   Might be worth a check up.
