foam insert for space saver
« on: August 30, 2017, 07:53:13 PM »
I've had my 64 plate 2litre Sport since February and love it. i always bothered about the jollop for puncture repair, and after a bit of searching found a spacesaver online with  jack and wheelbrace for £130 delivered.
i know this is a perennial question, but is the foam surround available as a spare?
thanks.

Yes. But. as far as I know, it comes as a kit. Only way to find out for sure is to call your local Mazda dealer.

Some people have just bought and cut foam blocks/sheet. It's not as elegant but it's going to be under the carpet anyway.

I am fairly sure that it only comes with the complete kit, as I was quoted prices for all the components of the kit but the foam insert was not included in the list.

Could you post details of where you sourced your spare. Might be handy for others.

Back to the insert. If it turns out you can't get one, you could try making one with expanding foam. Bit of a faff to set up a mould to expand the foam into, but it should be do-able with some polythene and patience.

Late flash - Have a look at http://www.mazda3forums.co.uk/index.php?topic=14155.0 . Search and ye shall find! If it's available for £51, it's hardly worth faffing around trying to make one.
