Knocking fom rear.
« on: August 29, 2017, 02:14:13 PM »
I have seen other posts on a similar issue, but have not yet found a solution.

My 2008 Mazda 3 (5 door) has a knocking sound from the rear.

It recently passed it's MOT with one advisory that the left rear stabalizer bar link was showing some play.  My immediate thought was that this was the cause of the knocking, so I changed both links.

But the noise is still there. It only happens on uneven road surfaces. If I go over a speed hump, it doesn't knock, but driving over a stretch of road that had ridges across the surface, it is prominant.

I have checked all the bolts on the rear suspension and they are all tight. I've even checked that the new anti roll bars links are still tight (they are).

I have taken everything out of the boot area - spare wheel and jack included - and the noise persists.

Any suggestions?  I've only owned the car for about 15 months and am really pleased with it, apart from this one nag.

Thanks in advance.
