Yes it recognises when any of the doors are open. It just doesnt put the interior lights on. I presume because the BCM thinks the boot has been open for too long so its saving battery life?

Not sure if it works like that to be honest people have managed to flatten batteries with courtesy lights before but that could have been on gen 1 cars.

Looking at how mine works and what yours is doing I think either the BCM is still not right or you have an issue with the signal from the tailgate lock. But I'm afraid that's as far as I can help.
