Hi all my father inlaw has a Mazda 3 takara 2008 his alarm has gone  off in garage,could low battery voltage cause this,?.ALso when u lock thé car on Mazda mark 1 do you Get a red car symbol with a key inside flash fast-for 20sec then flash every 2 seconds thé same symbol . thanks father inlaw says its never flashed before lol he is 86.

Sounds like its working as intended, the fast flashing is as the alarm arms itself (interior protection and immobiliser) once armed it slows down to a steady flash.

Low voltage can cause all sorts of random issues but if it has power to start the engine it's pretty unlikely. Don't suppose anything could have fallen over on it or near it, last time mine went off a cat jumped on to the roof!

As above. The red light flashing sequence you mention is perfectly normal.  As StevenRB45 has suggested maybe something set the alarm off. 

Look at life through the windscreen, not the rearview mirror.
