Powder coating
« on: May 17, 2018, 12:00:28 PM »
Not sure if I should go for the dark gun metal alloys from Mazda or get my current ones powder coated.
I have seen a few posts on here regarding the subject but nothing recent.
I can see a lot of posts about corrosion on Mazda alloys and this is concerning me regarding the heat treatment required for powder coating. Are the alloys of lower quality so would be damaged by the re-heating process compared to other manufacturers?
If not, I am guessing powder coating can only help stop the bubbling (as long as there are no chips in the powder coat to allow water to enter).

Any experiences out there? Am thinking of using The Wheel Specialist which has just opened up in Colchester, which is luckily 20 minutes away.

Thanks,
