Mazda 3 roof bars , rails , carrier
« on: May 12, 2018, 04:44:20 AM »
Not sure if this is the right area to be posing this question . I’m trying to find information and other people’s experience of using a roof “ rack” .

Searched high and low and the only reference I can find is in the workshop manual which shows location etc of roof carrier brackets. Does anyone posses them for carrying cycles or roof boxes and how do they get on with them ?

I would be interested in any answers to this too. It appears that rear cycle carriers are a no-no on the Gen 3 (because of the plastic roof spoiler not load bearing?).

Looking around - strangely, it seems that the genuine Mazda accessories are the best bet price-wise, as the decent 3rd party are more expensive.

I think (not certain) that the Mazda accessories also come with tailored 'trough' covers, to cover the gaps.

I have a Mazda roof rack on mine and it's very good. Yes they replace the entire strips on the roof with differnt ones, the bars are wider than the Thule one's  for example.

I have found Farad rails on the net that seem to come in cheaper than the Mazda ones , aero roof bars , have the slot in them for Thule bike carriers , not sure how they cope with the plastic strip though.
