Hi all on the forum,

I'm new here and have recently bought a new Mazda 5 having owned a Mazda 3 for six years. I still have the 3 but wanted to get something a bit roomier for travelling/holidays etc.

Now I know this isn't technically the right place for Mazda 5 questions but the Mazda5forum is still quite new and doesn't have many members yet, so hoping this forum can help.

Anyway, my initial thoughts of the new 5 a month on are really positive. It's comfortable, has bags of room, well equipped, looks great in Brilliant Black and with i-stop the fuel consumption is pretty good too for an MPV. My kids love the electric sliding doors!!

There is just one thing that's bugging me, THE STEREO. In my opinion it doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the standard one fitted in the Mazda 3. The sound is 'tinny' and lacks volume and radio reception is really poor on some stations (would be my favourites!) which are received perfectly clear in the 3.

I just wondered if anyone thinks I should go back to the dealer to see if there's a problem with the aerial or something, especially having bad radio reception on a modern car?

Thanks all, look forward to any advice.

CliffB

Hi Cliff, some cars use 'powered' aerials (applies to VAG cars) - perhaps the aerial is connected properly. Something's up, visit the dealer.

The dealer has asked me to take the car back to inspect the audio unit. Will post an update with their findings.

Cheers,
CliffB :) :)

Hi all,

Just a final update on this topic.

The Mazda dealer in Romford inspected the car, confirmed the audio unit was faulty, ordered a replacement, it arrived and fitted the next week, problem solved.

Got to say that I was impressed with Mazda Romford for their prompt service.

Cheers.
CliffB.
