Vehicle Electrics / Just changed key fob battery - can't get car to start.
« Last post by Ste7en on Yesterday at 12:40:03 PM »
It is just sitting there. Not doing anything at all. I've tried pressing the fob on the start button. Nothing.

There was a dash warning about a low battery the other day, but I'm sure it was for the key and not the car battery.

Anyone else had this?

Mazda 3 / Re: The Mazda 3 Fuel Economy Thread

You lot would be amazed at how economical the new e skyactiv x 3 is I bought mine in April  now it's run in on shorter journeys of say less than 10 miles it does around 50mpg but on a decent run I regularly get over 60mpg the current average after 2000 miles is 51.7 it's incredible to think this is from a 2L petrol engine.

Good to see it achieve very close to the WLTP mpg figures, which is an improvement over the previous-gen Skyactiv-G, which itself isn't too shabby compared to some of the small-capacity turbo-petrol and especially the diesel competition.  I didn't realise that Mazda have already revised the Skyactiv-X engine/setup to get a little more power/torque and mpg and to reduce the emissions.

I thought that the inclusion of the 'e-' was just a 'green PR' renaming exercise, but it apparently was an actual improvement.  Let's hope they start rolling out other engine sizes for other models and for sporty versions.

Mazda 3 / Recall
« Last post by Engineer Andy on September 15, 2021, 09:56:07 PM »
I just got my car's first recall notification - not bad for a 15+ year old car.  This appears to be coming out of the airbag issues from Japan - this time for earlier Mazda3 gen-1 cars:

The big M Mazda logo on the steering wheel is 'at risk' from shattering if the airbag deploys, so presumably the centre part of the steering wheel (not sure about the airbag) will be replaced FOC.

Anyone else here affected?

Steering/Suspension/Brakes / Front suspension arms (brands)
« Last post by amar1994 on September 14, 2021, 10:43:06 PM »
Hello,

I'm curious of which brand of aftermarket front arms to use, I'm not paying 300eur for only one OEM front arm.The reason why I'm asking about this is because my right ball joint is shot..

Has anyone have any kind of experience, quality wise with the brands such as: Lemforder, Sidem, Spidan, Optimal, Aisin, Meyle and so on??

Thank you in advance  :)

Mazda 3 / Re: Electric 3?
« Last post by Engineer Andy on September 02, 2021, 06:56:54 PM »
Hopefully Mazda will give us a turbo Mazda 3 before we are made to go electric 😂.Did I hear somewhere Mazda has developed the rotary engine for charging an electric hybrid car ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDC3uQp05DM

Something like that - I think whatever it is - a new RX or a MX-30 or similar but which has a system like the BMW i3 (range extender) may be down the line.  Not sure when though.
