Morethan insurance muppets
« on: April 03, 2009, 10:21:08 PM »
With Morethan since buying last April.
Renewal price £350, but craftily don't include Legal assisstance I always insist on - extra £30   =   £380 / £700 excess  !

Tries all multy search engines like moneymarket etc. but they are tied to owners and don't give all cheapest quotes only their own companies !!!
best search engine turns out to be Parkers which gives much lower quotes fom a number of firms that have'nt figured on the other s. engines at all; this includes Morethan with same options as my renewal for £335/ £300 excess.
Being suspicious, phones up and turns out "no cannot reduce renewal to this level, it includes a new policy discount and online discount". So cancelled current policy at point at which it runs out/ start new policy at same time.
Saved 345 and a better excess.

What a bunch of bl...y muppets   O0 ;D ;D

Always amazes me, you'd think they'd go out their way to keep hold of customers.  Especially in the current climate.

There is no logic to insurance companies.

My previous car was a passat tdi 130. I was paying £777. THey now want £530 from me for the MPS.

I know I have an extra year no claim discount, but such a huge jump.

Not that i am complaining.

Morethan have got to be the biggest muppets around though. When I still had my old Golf, I lived in Staines and paid around £320 fully comp. Then I moved to West London and they said they could no longer give me fully comp, only third party. Not even with fire and theft, just the bare legal minimum!! On top of that they said there would be a slight increase in my premium to just a touch over £1000. That's ONE THOUSAND POUNDS, for an H-reg Golf 1.6!! Clearly they wanted to get rid of me. Eventually moved to Elephant where I ended up paying less than I had been paying with Morethan back in Staines...

They're called Morethan for a reason. Quotes are always more than everyone else  :D

I'm with Privilege now and for the first time EVER, my renewal quote was lower than the year before  :D

when i bought my 2.0 sport , i didnt even consider a mps due to  the grp 17 insurance.I thought i`d pay through the roof but going by some of the quotes ive seen on here, i shouldve  got a few quotes now. Even with the new road tax prices i think i couldve got fully comp+protected ncb etc for under £500 leaving me with change to  go  towards taxing it.

They are certainly an unperdictable bunch; i tied at least 20 companies and searches, the cheapest was Moethan unless I considered some unsavoury ones according to Web.

I was with More Than for quite a few years with guaranteed no claims, but I used to go on line as a new customer each year (after shopping around) & get the discount rather than just renew the existing policy, as they were still cheapest for me. Eventually they got wise to people doing that & started giving a "loyalty discount".   I left them  2 years ago as I finally got a £50 cheaper quote through a broker elsewhere (but still with Royal & Sun Alliance!). After having a "no fault" accident last month my renewal is due a few days before I take delivery of my new car.  I shopped around again and even after declaring the accident I got a quote from More Than (including protected no claims) which is £100 cheaper than the renewal quote from my broker, who this year has offered a policy from Zurich.  I'll be going back to More Than !  I was very happy with the service I got from Royal & Sun Alliance when I made my claim.
